National Championships Qualifying/Entry Information:
Teams: 32 per gender will be selected in the following manner:

• 16 teams will automatically qualify (2 per region)

• 16 at-large teams will be selected by the committee to be determined using the published criteria in the championship handbook;

• Only the top five teams in each region will be considered.

Individuals: (56 per gender) will be selected in the following manner:

• 56 Individuals will automatically qualify (7 per region)

• Remove the team championship qualifiers from regionals and renumber the remaining individuals (not with a qualifying team) to determine the individual national qualifiers.

Sunday (November 12), 3 p.m. ET – Championship fields will be posted online at www.ncaasports.com and the championship meet website:

Sunday (November 12) 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. ET – Championship entry period. All entries must be submitted at www.directathletics.com/ncaa.html. After 9 p.m. entries will be considered late and may be accepted per committee approval with a fine of $100 until 11 p.m. ET that night.

Entry Procedures:

All entries are being handled by Direct Athletics. Entries must be received no later than 5 p.m. Eastern on Sunday Nov. 5th. Received entries will be posted on this website on Nov. 6th for review. No late entries will be accepted after Tuesday Nov. 7th at 5 p.m. Eastern. Each team may submit a maximum of ten names per team.

Mandatory Coaches Meeting:
A mandatory coaches meeting will be held Friday Nov. 10th, 2006 at the Courtyard by Marriott – Northlake (4083 LaVista Road). A short social will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the business meeting beginning at 8:00 p.m. The NCAA has mandated a check-in time of 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting. Failure to attend this meeting will result in a $100 fine.

Packet Pick-up:
Packets will be distributed at the mandatory coaches meeting. All pertinent meet information will be covered and starting box assignments will be distributed.

Timing Chips:
Timing chips will be distributed with packets at the coaches meeting. Details on the return of the chips following the race, as well as the fine for unreturned chips will be provided at this time.

Final Declarations:
Competing runners must check-in with the clerk of the course at their assigned starting box 20 minutes prior to the start of each race. Specific procedures will be reviewed at the coaches meeting. A maximum of seven runners from the ten listed on the entry form will be allowed to compete for each team.

Results:
Unofficial results will be posted at the course immediately following the race. One copy of the official results will be made available to the head coaches at the course once they are confirmed. Results will also be posted that afternoon on the www.go.emory.edu website: click on Men's or Women's Cross Country, then click on schedule.

Course/Course Inspection:
Complete course descriptions and color-coded course maps are included in the "Course Maps" section of this website. The course will be available for inspection Friday Nov. 10th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday Nov. 11th from 8:00 a.m. until the start of the race. Please make your travel plans to allow you to view the course during these allotted times only. We are guests of the Hospital and we will abide by their rules. Their security will enforce these restrictions.

Make sure to ask for the Emory Athletics rate when making reservations. The hotel has convenient access to the GA Regional Hospital Course, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, and major interstate highways. Rooms will be on a first-call reserve basis. Shower Facilities:
There are no shower facilities at the Cross Country Course. As Emory University is not near the course, it's recommended you make arrangements with your hotel for a "late check-out" and try to shower there. The Woodruff PE Center at Emory University is an option (please make arrangements at the coaches meeting -- must supply own towel and toiletries).

Transportation:
Please refer to the "Meet Directions" section of this website for directions to the course from all major interstates as well as Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

NCAA Merchandise:
NCAA Merchandise will be available at the course during course inspection on Friday, and on race day. Coaches will have the opportunity to pre-order t-shirts online with Event 1. Further information and instructions will be sent out Sunday, November 5th from the NCAA to all coaches attending regional competition. The deadline to complete a pre-order will be 10 pm (CT) on Tuesday, November 7th.
