Ray graduated from the Colorado College in 2004 with distinction in economics.

During his time at CC, Ray served as cross-country captain and qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championship cross-country meet. In addition to his economics studies, Ray studied both the production side of film and its critique.

Currently, Ray is working as a teaching assistant in the economics department at the Colorado College.
